Barry P. Mikesell, 86 of Littlestown, PA, sadly passed away at home on Thursday, September 10, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Erika (Bavetta) Mikesell for 18 wonderful years.
Born August 29, 1940 in Wilkinsburg, PA, to Dean R. and Virginia E. (Maxson) Mikesell. He graduated with a B.S. in accounting from Duquesne in 1967.
Barry served in the government for 20 years. He was a valuable asset as well as “the go to guy” at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. He had a fascination for following the money trail.
In addition to his wife, Barry is survived by stepson Jeff Raid, stepdaughter Jennifer (Barto) Raid, nephews Chris Mikesell, Brian Mikesell with their respective families, cousin Lana Riley, extended nephew Gary Bavetta, and nieces Anna and Rosie Bavetta.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother William Keith Mikesell, grandparents Minturn L. and Gladys M. (Pound) Maxson.
Barry is fondly remembered for his unwavering resilience, laughter, a patient listener and comforting soul. He was lovingly called Uncle Bear.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Sunday, September 27th from 1-4pm at Little’s Funeral Home; 34 Maple Ave. in Littlestown, where there will be a time for public sharing of memories at 2:30pm.
