The 35th annual Adams County Heritage Festival will take place on Sunday, September 20, from 12 noon to 4 p.m., in the Gettysburg Area Recreation Park. The theme of the festival is “sharing and appreciating the cultures of Adams County through Music, Food, and Art . . . A Celebration of Unity in Our Community.”
After opening ceremonies, the following groups will perform:
- 12:15 p.m. Knotwork Band (Celtic)
- 1:10 p.m. Casa Guanajuato (Mexican dance)
- 2:10 p.m. Frederick Catoctones Chorus
- 3:10 p.m. Pakiva Bluz Band
At 12:30, children will assemble for the annual bike parade, sponsored by Healthy Adams Bicycle/Pedestrian Inc., which will start at 1 p.m. on the Biser Fitness Trail. This year it will be led by Gettysburg Mayor Alison Lintal.
Food vendors will offer cuisine from the Middle East, Germany, Mexico, Indonesia, Liberia, and other regions of the world. There will be many booths for vendors of traditional crafts and exhibits from local nonprofits. Art activities will be available for children.
Children may obtain passports and collect stamps at booths representing cultures of different countries and regions.
The festival is free, as is parking. It is sponsored by the Interfaith Center for Peace and Justice, Gettysburg.
