Katherine “Katie” A. Bream-Frie, 34 years old, of Orrtanna, PA, passed away at the Gettysburg Hospital, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 18, 2026. She was born on November 14, 1991, to Mark and Gale Bream of Biglerville, PA.
Katie was a 2010 graduate of Gettysburg Area High School. At 16 years old, she was chosen to be an ambassador to Australia by the People to People organization, thus beginning her love of traveling. After graduating from high school, she attended Pratt Institute in New York City for her freshman year of college before transferring to Albright College in Reading, PA. She graduated in 2014 Magna Cum Laude and as a Jacon Albright Scholar with 2 bachelor degrees. One in psychology and one in fine arts. A few years later, she graduated from Drexel University with a master’s degree in marketing.
Although she held several jobs in the marketing field, she loved her job with VIA in Emmaus, PA, the most, where she worked with adults with disabilities. Katie was also an extremely talented artist and designed labels for a local winery.
In 2022, she met the love of her life and future husband, Rob Frie, who stood lovingly, devotedly, and firmly by her side throughout her entire illness. Katie was well aware of her prognosis and decided to live the rest of her life to the fullest. During her illness, she traveled to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Turks and Caicos, Japan, and several National Parks and cities in the United States. Aside from traveling, she enjoyed video gaming, her pets, and hiking whenever she was able.
Katie is survived by her husband, Robert M. Frie of Orrtanna; parents, Mark and Gale Bream of Biglerville, PA; brother, Steven Bream and his wife Kasey of Orrtanna; sister, Holly Bream Powery and her husband Matthew of Mechanicsburg, PA her beloved nieces, Violet Powery and Taylor Gilsbach (Bream); and a multitude of friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Flohrs Lutheran Church in McKnightstown, PA, with Rev. Gene Tucker officiating. Interment will follow the services in Flohrs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg is assisting the family with the arrangements. Online tributes and condolences can be made at monahanfuneralhome
