Larry Eugene Hughes, 80, died September 22, 2026. Born August 25, 1946, in Hanover, he was the son of the late David and Pansy Ethel (Green) Hughes-Roop.
Hughes served in the U.S. Marine Corps before pursuing a career in automobile sales. He owned The Car Lot in Hanover and later founded Triple L Farms in New Oxford, where he raised award-winning Simmental cattle.
He also bred German Shorthaired Pointers for field trials and enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He belonged to the New Oxford Social Club and McSherrystown Home Association.
Survivors include his sons, Leland Hughes of New Oxford, Dr. Lance Hughes of Hobson, Montana, and Laramie Hughes of New Oxford; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Jo Gastley.
A private celebration of life will be held later for family and close friends.
