Donald Ray Gilmore, age 73, of Littlestown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on September 25, 2026. Born on February 15, 1953, he was the son of the late Robert R. Gilmore and Essie (Seiferd) Gilmore.
Don is survived by his devoted wife, Dana Gilmore, who lovingly called him her “handyman” both at home and at Dana’s Flower and Garden, where he spent his retirement years fixing, building, and improving anything that needed his touch.
He leaves behind his children, each of whom he was deeply proud of: Jessica Murphy and her husband Scott, Rebecca Gilmore and her partner Albert, and Lucy Shaffer and her partner Adam.
He was a proud grandfather to Leroy, Ivy, Devin, and James, and a delighted great-grandfather to Wesley and Colton, who brought him endless joy.
Don is also survived by his brother Thomas Gilmore and wife Madelyn, his sister Susan Johnson and husband Shane, and many nieces and nephews who will remember his humor, his kindness, and his steady presence. His beloved dogs, Missy and Sookie, will miss him dearly.
A graduate of the Fairfield Area School District, Don spent his career with Hulls Electric Company of Gettysburg, where he was known for his skill, reliability, and work ethic. After retiring, he found new purpose working alongside Dana, becoming an indispensable part of her business and her life.
Don will be remembered for his deep love of family and the simple joys that colored his days. He was a lifelong fan of sci-fi movies, British comedy, and The Big Bang Theory. He enjoyed Eric Clapton, British blues, McDonald’s, and never turned down a good Sudoku or crossword puzzle. Above all, Don had a remarkable talent for fixing and building anything — a gift he shared generously with everyone around him.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Little’s Funeral Home, 34 Maple Ave., Littlestown, PA 17340, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM.
Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Don’s life was one of quiet strength, steady love, and hands that were always ready to help. His memory will live on in the family he cherished, the work he crafted, and the stories shared by all who knew him.
