Shirley Ann Calp, 88, of Abbottstown, died Oct. 3, 2026. Her family’s notice says she was born in Maryland to Margaret and Clarence Miller and was married to Howard, who survives her.
Calp helped establish New Life for Girls in Dover with Cookie Rodriquez and Pauline Bernstein and worked there for many years. She also worked for Harold G. Scheie, founder of the Scheie Eye Institute in Philadelphia, and as secretary at The Rock Church in York. Calp was a member of New Life Assembly of God in East Berlin and the Royal-tea Club.
Survivors include Howard; daughters Susan Snyder and her husband, Terry, of Dover; Lori A. Firestone Morris of Mechanicsburg; and Coby L. Sexton of Missouri; stepson Jeb Calp of Bonneville; and sister Donna Heindel of York. The family notice lists 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Calp was preceded in death by her sister Rosetta Lartz and brothers Donald, James and Robert Miller.
