Hildegard “Chris” Christine Halter, 96, of Littlestown

Hildegard “Chris” Christine Halter, 96, died Oct. 1, 2026. Known to her family as “Mamie,” she was born Feb. 4, 1930, in Nürnberg, Germany, and later made a home in Littlestown. Her family described a life shaped by faith, generosity, and devotion to relatives.

Halter was preceded in death by her husband, George “Bud” Elmer Halter Jr., after 59 years of marriage; son Erich George Halter; grandson Erich Michael Halter; daughter-in-law Teresa Halter; and siblings George, Rosa, Hanna and Erich. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Creamer, and son-in-law Paul Creamer Sr.; eight grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

After meeting Bud, who was serving with the U.S. Army in Germany, they married in 1954. She moved to the United States, learned English while maintaining her German traditions, and worked for about 15 years at a baby shoe factory in Littlestown. She was also a seamstress and was remembered for caring for others.

A viewing and celebration of life were held Oct. 7 at Little’s Funeral Home in Littlestown. A private burial service was planned at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
