John W. Krichten, 80, died suddenly at home on September 26, 2026. Born in McSherrystown on July 8, 1946, he graduated from Delone Catholic High School and King’s College in Wilkes-Barre. He married Eileen G. Krichten in 1975.
Krichten worked for the U.S. Treasury Department before joining Adams County National Bank, where he held several roles and retired as senior vice president and chief financial officer. After retirement, he worked in real estate development, including the restoration of Gettysburg’s Times Square and Union Square buildings. He was a Lions Club member and served on the Adams County Library System board. He enjoyed history and biography, collected first editions, and planted hundreds of trees.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen; daughters Betsy Lopez of Yardley and Molly Krichten of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren; four brothers; and three sisters. He was preceded in death by a sister. No public services are planned; a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery will be scheduled later. Memorial contributions may be made to Delone Catholic High School.
