Michael “Mike” W. Rice, 84, of New Oxford, died Oct. 10, 2026, at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, according to Kenworthy Funeral Home. Rice devoted more than 50 years to Utz Quality Foods, the family business founded by his grandparents, and later served as its CEO, board chairman, and chairman emeritus.
Rice also served on the boards of the Hanover Area YMCA and Hanover Hospital. He and his wife, Jane, established the Rice Family Foundation, which supports nonprofit organizations. He is survived by his wife, two children, siblings, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
A service is scheduled for Oct. 31 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hanover. Read the full notice from the funeral home.
