HACC lowers tuition for most students beginning in fall 2027

HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, will lower tuition for most students starting in fall 2027 after its Board of Trustees approved new rates for the 2027-28 academic year on Nov. 3.

Students who live in HACC’s sponsoring school districts will pay $150 per credit, down from $189.75. In-state students who live outside those districts will pay $250 per credit, down from $290.

The college also revised per-credit fees and fees for laboratory, clinical, studio and trades courses. HACC said the changes are intended to bring those charges closer to fees at comparable community colleges.

The new rates follow a comparison of HACC’s tuition and fees with Pennsylvania’s 15 community colleges, state system universities and other regional institutions. The review was part of the college’s zero-based budgeting initiative.

HACC said approving the rates in November gives students and families about 10 months to compare college costs before fall 2027 classes begin. The rates take effect that fall.
