Adams County Technical Institute will hold an open house Thursday, November 12, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., giving ninth- and tenth-graders a chance to explore career-training options before choosing their high-school programs.
Littlestown High School’s announcement says applications are open for current tenth-graders seeking admission for the 2027–28 school year. Students are directed to their school counselor for information about applying.
ACTI, at 1126 Old Harrisburg Road in Gettysburg, serves juniors and seniors. Its participating districts are Bermudian Springs, Conewago Valley, Fairfield Area, Gettysburg Area and Littlestown Area.
The institute lists seven programs: allied health, building trades, computer networking, criminal justice, culinary arts, diesel technology and early learning. It says students may have opportunities for industry certifications, internships, apprenticeships and college credit.
ACTI’s frequently asked questions explain that its programs are free for students living in participating districts who attend public or private school. Students outside those districts and home-schooled students may attend if seats remain, but must pay their own tuition.
Juniors typically attend a morning technical session before returning to their high school for academic classes. Seniors attend their high school in the morning and report to ACTI at noon, according to the institute’s published schedule.
Transportation arrangements also differ by grade. Participating districts provide transportation for juniors; seniors generally provide their own, although a district may offer transportation on a case-by-case basis.
Families can use the open house to ask about program requirements, transportation and costs for tools or uniforms, which vary by program. The institute’s contact number is 717-398-3178, and students should follow up with their counselor about the application process.
