Donate Gardner is a freelance writer and journalist who came to Gettysburg from Montgomery County, Maryland.  A former linguist-turned-legal professional, Donate recently retired and is eager to support her new community in a variety of ways.  She currently serves as the news communicator for the Adams County migrant outreach program, <em>Pasa La Voz</em> and supports various pro bono legal services to migrants in the area. An immigrant born, raised, and educated in Western Europe, Donate uses her multi-lingual background to maintain connection to other cultures, both as a writer, historical researcher and advocate. She is also a frequent contributor to Frederick Magazine, Hagerstown Magazine and Carroll Magazine, among others. A published author of fiction, she has short stories in the books, “For the Love of Gettysburg” and “On Hallowed Ground.”

He is passionate about sharing stories focused on the people in our communities and following local governments in an age when few journalists report on their meetings. Sarah Jacobs is a contemporary maximalist and surrealist artist. Her canvas work is represented in NYC by Fremin Gallery and in Pittsburgh by Zynka Gallery. She also paints murals. Jacobs was raised in Littlestown and educated in Art History at Gettysburg College. She received her MFA from the Hoffberger School of Painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore in 2010. There she studied under Joyce Kozloff, founding member of the Pattern & Decoration and Feminist art movements of the 1970’s. Jacobs moved back to the USA in 2014 after three years living in London and Bristol, UK where she became a naturalized British citizen. She now lives and paints in Gettysburg. Besides making and studying art, she enjoys fine wine, reading novels and philosophy, long walks in the battlefield, and being with her friends.

Mary Grace Kauffman, freelance reporter, worked six years as a full-time reporter for newspapers in Pennsylvania and Maryland. She has covered topics including business, crime, education, government and features. Mary Grace has a bachelor's degree in communication/journalism from Shippensburg University. She resides in Adams County.

Mark Purdy, Managing Editor, has lived in Gettysburg for over 50 years. He worked for 20-plus years for ACNB Bank. He also works with Road Scholar International's Gettysburg programs and has managed the Gettysburg Beer Runners since 2013. Mark has also worked in radio, newspaper, and public relations.

Leon Reed, freelance reporter, is a former US Senate staff member, defense consultant, and history teacher. He is a 10 year resident of Gettysburg, where he writes military history and explores the park and the Adams County countryside. He is the publisher at Little Falls Books, chaired the Adams County 2020 Census Complete Count Committee and is on the board of SCCAP. He and his wife, Lois, have 3 children, 3 cats, and 5 grandchildren.

Patti Restivo is an actor, director and writer who's been active in the theater community for more than 30 years. She has devoted much of her creative energy in the last decade to writing feature stories and show reviews for the Baltimore Sun Media Group, where she won MDDC Press Association Awards for business, feature story non-profile, religion and arts/entertainment reporting. A regular reviewer in the past at theaters performing on the outskirts of Baltimore, Annapolis, and D.C., she recently moved to Gettysburg where she enjoys exploring the arts and history of her new hometown.

Catalina Righter, freelance reporter, lives in New Oxford. She previously wrote for the Carroll County Times and the Kent County News, covering crime, education, local government and arts. She works as a legal assistant.
