The Gettysburg College women’s tennis team closed out its fall match schedule with a 9-0 victory over Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday.

Singles competition

Match Recap
Gettysburg (3-0) had to work for a doubles sweep with the top two flights being decided by three points or less. Junior Alex Rieg (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) and sophomore Catherine Haley (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) made short work of their foes at the third flight with an 8-2 decision. The top team of sophomores Andrea Brazyte (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) and Gillian Rozenfeld (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) pulled out an 8-5 win, while freshmen Sarah Guistwite (Carlisle, Pa./Wilson Hill Academy) and Kate Alianiello (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) held on for an 8-6 win at No. 2.

In singles play, both Rieg and Alianiello dropped only one game in their wins at No. 4 (6-1, 6-0) and No. 6 (6-0, 6-1), respectively. Guistwite cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Breanna DeSantos at the second flight, while Brazyte picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win over Samantha Bogush at No. 1. After winning the first set 6-0, Rozenfeld pulled out a tiebreaker 7-2 to claim a straight-set (6-0, 7-6 (2) win at third singles. Sophomore Tierney Cantwell (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) completed the sweep by winning a 7-2 tiebreaker in the opening set for a 7-6 (2), 6-1 win at No. 5.
