How It Happened…

  • First Quarter
    • Richson, who entered today’s game averaging 5 points per game, couldn’t miss in the early going as she doubled her mark by banking 10 of the Bullets first 12 points. With her 10 points, it helped fuel the Bullets to a 12-6 lead midway through the quarter. Back-to-back three-pointers and then back-to-back lay-ups by the Shorewomen tied the game up at 16-all with 48 seconds remaining. A trey by Rice moments later lifted the Bullets to a 19-16 lead heading into the second quarter.
  • Second Quarter
    • Washington jumped into the second quarter on a 10-0 spurt as the team accumulated six from the free throw line with Taylor Samuels netting the last seven to take a 26-19 advantage. After that, the Bullets raced away with seven-straight to tie the game at 26-26 with 6:09 on the clock. The scoring margin never exceeded more than four points the rest of the half, but the turning point for the Bullets came with 3:41 showing. Gehrin drained a trey that ballooned into a 13-7 run to close the half on top 41-39.
    • The Bullets shot the extremely well in the first half, making 50 percent (13-of-26) from the floor and 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from three-point land.
  • Third Quarter
    • A lay-up by Washington’s Cassidy Quattro tied the game at 41-all 17 seconds in, but Gettysburg then netted seven in a row, which was capped by a three-pointer by senior Kiera Cesareo (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) to pull in front 48-41. The Bullets maintained a six-point edge midway through, but the hosts dropped six-straight to tie the game at 50-50.
    • Gehrin helped change the momentum of the quarter as she nailed a trey with 2:47 on the clock, which helped the Bullets produce a 10-2 spurt to go back on top 60-52.
  • Fourth Quarter
    • Gehrin made it a double-figure margin for the first time all game off a lay-up in the opening seconds of the final quarter. Gettysburg continued to hold on for an eight-point edge off a made free throw by Brown with 4:01 showing.
    • Unfortunately, the tide turned after that as the Shorewomen responded with an 11-0 run to pull ahead 76-73 with 33 seconds to go.
    • After a team timeout, Rice was quickly fouled behind the three-point line, sending her to the charity stripe to shot three freebies with 23 on the clock. Rice was clutch in making all three to tie the game 76-76.
    • The Shorewomen then called a timeout of their own three seconds later. Washington’s Caitlin Clark missed a lay-up, but teammate Quattro pulled down the offensive board and was fouled by Gehrin with two seconds to play. Quattro went 1-for-2 at the line and Gettysburg called a timeout. In hopes for a comeback, the ball was inbound to Rice but the shot fell short in the final seconds.
    • Washington had its best quarter shooting performance, hitting 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from the field, while Gettysburg shot a quarter low 33.3 percent (4-of-12).
