A Healthy Hike Across Pickett’s Charge

The Physical Fitness Task Force of Healthy Adams County will conduct its next hike next Saturday, March 9th, at 1:00. The hike covers the historic expanse of General George Pickett’s historic July 3, 1863, charge.

Participants should park at the Sterner Building at the Gettysburg Rec Park. The hike will use the Biser Fitness Trail to get to Howard Street, neighborhood streets to the Armory, and West Confederate Avenue. The hike will cross the fields used by Pickett’s troops at the Virginia Memorial, reaching what is now Hancock Avenue at The Angle. The hike will then return via neighborhood streets. You may expect a quiet winter experience. This is a relatively flat trail, gravel, dirt, roadway, and sidewalks. This is an easy, though somewhat long, hike. No casualties are anticipated.
