A Sweet Start to Summer: Pennsylvania’s Ice Cream Trail Returns

Pennsylvania’s summer is off to a delicious start with the return of Scooped: An Ice Cream Trail, featuring 51 farm-fresh creameries across the state. Kicked off at Destiny Dairy Bar in Cumberland County, Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding and DCED Secretary Rick Siger celebrated the trail’s seventh season with scoops of creamy, local goodness.

“Pennsylvania ice cream is the sweetest you’ll find anywhere,” said Secretary Redding. “Every scoop supports our farms and strengthens local economies.”

Since 2018, the Ice Cream Trail has connected ice cream lovers with family-owned dairy farms through a self-guided, statewide adventure. Visitors can sign up at visitpa.com/scooped, earn points for prizes like commemorative tumblers, and even enter to win a farm getaway in Lancaster County.

Destiny Dairy Bar’s hands-on experience—complete with calf-feeding, a petting zoo, and A2 milk education—is just one of the many unique stops. “It’s about more than just ice cream,” said owner Amy Brickner. “It’s about creating memories and connecting with the people behind your food.”

With nearly 5,000 dairy farms producing 10 billion pounds of milk annually, Pennsylvania ranks among the top dairy states. “The trail is a flavorful way to celebrate our heritage, support small businesses, and enjoy a great American getaway,” said Secretary Siger.
