Gettysburg Connection Covers Local Elections

As part of our commitment to civil community discourse and transparency and to give voters as much information as possible before they go to the polls, Gettysburg Connection provides information about local elections. Our voter guide for the 2023 Municipal Election is here. Follow all our elections coverage here.

ACDC training for local candidates continues on Friday

The second session of the Democracy for American/Adams County Democratic Committee training
program for candidates and campaign team members will be held this Friday, February 17, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Democratic Headquarters, 24 Chambersburg Street, Gettysburg.

The topics include messaging, the press, and social media.

An RSVP is not required, but appreciated so the organizers can plan for materials for the session.

Gathering signatures on petitions for candidates to appear on the primary ballot starts tomorrow, February 14, so anyone considering running for any office may now obtain petition packets.

Packets are available at Democratic headquarters for all offices on the ballot: county, borough, township, and school board.  Any candidate from any party is welcome to pick up a packet from us rather than going to the courthouse to get one – it’s a service we provide to our candidates and it’s a help to the Elections Office which gets extremely busy at this time of year.

Members of the Adams County Democratic Committee are very willing to help first-time candidates with the forms in the packet, so contact us if you’d like to meet with one of us.

We hear every election cycle that “there are no Democrats on the ballot”, and we are actively seeking willing and interested candidates for:

County – Controller, Coroner, District Attorney, Prothonotary, Register and Recorder

District Judges – 3rd and 4th Magisterial Districts

Borough Councils – almost every borough

Township Supervisors – almost every township

Auditors, Constables, Tax Collectors in various boroughs and
townships

School boards – critical elections and candidates are needed in every school district in the county!  This is a priority for Democrats and those who believe in responsible public education for all students.  For example, Bermudian Springs has openings in Huntington and Latimore Townships, and candidates are needed

Please let us know if you are willing to run for an office. We’re here to provide guidance and mentoring to candidates. Call 717.337.5285 for more information.
