The public is invited to attend the Adams County Office for Aging (ACOFA) 2023 Spring Fling event on Wednesday, May 31st in Hauser Field House, located at the west end of Lincoln Avenue on the Gettysburg College campus.
Spring Fling is an annual Older Americans Month health and wellness event celebrating healthy aging and connecting older adults and people living with disabilities to the programs, services and supports available to help them continue to live in the best way possible. We encourage everyone to learn about services before those services are needed.
Spring Fling is a partnership between ACOFA and PA LINK to Aging & Disability Resources. All adults, family members, and caregivers are invited to attend. The morning of Spring Fling features exhibits from health, medical, financial, insurance, and human services as well as other area businesses. From 9:00 AM until noon, participants will have the opportunity to meet and talk with exhibitors and gather information about services and volunteer (and employment) opportunities. This year we are also happy to be hosting the South Central PA Medical Reserve Corps. to offer free COVID bi-valent booster shots, shingles vaccines, and pneumonia vaccines. Proof of health insurance is required.
Entertainment from 10 – 11 AM will be provided by award-winning songwriter Ray Owen. Ray’s performance will provide a mix of traditional classics and original songs. Door prizes will be awarded before lunch. There is no charge to attend the morning festivities.
Lunch will be served at noon in the Dining Center. Lunch tickets are $5.00 and may be purchased at ACOFA’s main office, 318 W. Middle Street in Gettysburg. The price of the tickets has been greatly reduced thanks to our sponsors. The deadline for purchasing tickets is May 24th. Bingo will follow lunch. Businesses are welcome to donate prizes.
ACOFA is very grateful for sponsorship funds received from Adams Electric Cooperative, Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community, Highmark Wholecare, The Farnsworth House, UPMC Health Plans, and Wellspan Health. Their contributions cover entertainment, helping with the cost of lunch, refreshments, and bingo prizes.
Transportation is available through the senior centers or by calling rabbittransit at 1-800-632-9063. Shuttle service, also provided by rabbittransit, will be available from the parking lot next to Musselman Stadium to the exhibit hall. Street parking is metered and limited; using the lot and shuttle service is strongly encouraged.
