Adams County 4-H members and leaders were honored at the annual Adams County 4-H Leaders Achievement Night on October 7, at the Agriculture & Natural Resources Center in Gettysburg. These individuals provide the spark to Adams County’s 4-H experience. The evening began with apple crisp and ice cream followed by recognition of 4-H teens and adults.
4-H memorial awards were presented to the following 4-H teen members: Casey Zirk, Gettysburg, received the Elizabeth Brown Foods award; Elizabeth Lawrence, Littlestown, received the Mrs. Edward Snyder Clothing award; Luke Workman, Littlestown, received the John Myers Camp award; Bryanne Keller, Orrtanna, received the Robert Lott Citizenship award; Samantha Grant, Gettysburg, received the William Miller award; Findley Waybright, Gettysburg, received the Larry Feeser Sr. swine award; and Claire Lawrence, New Oxford, received the Olwyn Weant Clothing award.
Clover award winners were Stellar Gilbert, Solstice Gilbert, Presley Reading, Hayden Wilkinson, Morgan Wilkinson, Casey Zirk, Norah DeGennaro, Charlotte Duvall, Eugene Rentzel, Victoria Snyder, and Leroy Rentzel. Each received a pin for their accomplishments.
All 4-H volunteers were recognized with an Adams County 4-H multipurpose carrying bag as a gift for completing their years of service to the 4-H program. Volunteers completing their first year of service and receiving a gold clover pin were Gary Baker, Ellen Casciotta, Paul Caciotta, Griseydi Castabeda, Angela Doland, Andrea Dolges, Vicki Holtzople, Carla Huitt, Maggie Melhorn, Austin Miller, Johnnie Shindledecker, Whitney Smith, and Emily Wantz. Recognized with silver clover pins for five years of service Jennifer Hollabaugh, Amanda Holler, & Laura Wukovitz. Volunteer Laura Crandell was recognized for 10 years of service with a gold clover pin and plaque. Larry Feeser Jr. was recognized for 20 years of service with a diamond chip 4-H clover pin and plaque. Abe Bucher was recognized for 30 years of service and presented with a 4-H Yeti Water Bottle and ruby chip 4-H clover pin. Gerard Livelsberger was recognized for 40 years of service and presented with a 4-H Yeti Water Bottle. Carol Rex was recognized for 60 years of service and presented with a 4-H Yeti Water Bottle.
Redding Auction Service received the Partner in 4-H Award for their continuous support of the Adams County 4- H program. Todd Umbrell received the Individual Partner in 4-H Award and Tammy Rentzel, 4-H Swine & Goat.
Club leader received the Distinguished 4-H Leader Award. All 4-H members who completed 4-H projects at fair in 2023 will be receiving a 4-H multipurpose carrying bag for their respective accomplishments.
Glenda Miller, 4-H board member completing six years of service to 4-H Clubs of Adams County, Inc. was presented a laser engraved pen box and pen. Joel Gilbert, Griseydi Castaneda, & George Weikert were each elected to serve a three-year term on the 4-H Clubs of Adams County, Inc. Board of Directors.
