The Adams County Arts Council (ACAC) presented three scholarships at the Gettysburg Area High School Dollars for Scholars ceremony and recognized these students again at the 21st Annual Juried Art Exhibition Awards Ceremony on June 14 in Wolf Hall at the United Lutheran Seminary. All three awards were presented to graduating seniors who will pursue the arts in college and beyond.

Nanette Hatzes Memorial Award ($1,000)
Honoring the memory of Nanette Hatzes, known throughout the area for her “Art Attacks,” creative spirit, and her artwork in a variety of genres, Nan’s husband Max Bramel presented this year’s award to Megan Schultz, who will pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography, film, and video at Temple University.

Mel Shull Memorial Award ($750)
Honoring the memory of prolific Adams County artist Mel Shull, Mel’s husband Lee Baer Shull presented this year’s award to Salem Palmer, who will who will study Art History at Wilson College in preparation for a career in art restoration.
Stu Kravits Emerging Artist Award ($500)
This award was created by Stu’s children and grandchildren to thank him for his lifetime support of the arts, as many of them have successfully pursued the arts in a variety of mediums. Stu presented this year’s award to Savannah Schneider, who will pursue music performance at Ithaca College.
