The Adams County Community Foundation has announced Earth Day grants to two nonprofits from The Fund for the Environment. The Fund was created with support from donors interested in making environmental stewardship a shared community value in Adams County.
Annual grants from The Fund for the Environment support environmental education, local environmental projects and programs that educate our community on environmental issues. This year’s grants include:
Gettysburg Green Gathering, $5,000
Building on the success of resuming glass recycling in Adams County, Gettysburg Green Gathering will use this grant to contract for compacting the glass as it accumulates at the collection site and loading it for transport to the recycler.
Strawberry Hill Foundation, $2,500
This grant pays for renovation of a bridge on the “Enchanted Trail” leading to a newly opened section of the nature center featuring a microenvironment filled with mosses and ferns. This area will be incorporated into Strawberry Hill’s curriculum for nature lovers of all ages.
The Adams County Community Foundation was created to promote and facilitate charitable giving and to build a permanent civic endowment for Adams County. The Fund for the Environment is just one of many charitable funds created by the Community Foundation and donors including The Fund for Adams County, scholarship funds, endowments focused on the needs of Adams County, a specific local organization or purpose, and donor-advised funds, which may make grants anywhere in Pennsylvania or across the country.
