The Gettysburg Foundation invites Adams County, Pa. residents to celebrate Adams County Day on Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 17, 2025. With generous sponsorship from Barley Snyder Attorneys at Law, residents can enjoy free admission to the Film, Cyclorama & Museum Experience at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center.
Adams County guests will begin with A New Birth of Freedom, a film providing essential context for the Battle of Gettysburg. The experience continues with the spectacular 377-foot Gettysburg Cyclorama painting of Pickett’s Charge, followed by the 12-gallery Gettysburg Museum of the American Civil War, including the special exhibit A Rough Coarse Life: The World of the Civil War Soldier in the Gilder Lehrman Institute Special Exhibits Gallery. These immersive experiences present the Battle of Gettysburg, offer insight into Civil War history, and provide a personal glimpse into the lives of the soldiers who fought here more than 161 years ago.

Spotlight on Local Artifacts: Rare artifacts related to Adams County will be showcased for visitors, linking the community to the stories of Gettysburg.

Eisenhower Exhibit Spotlight: This exhibit, made possible by the Pritzker Military Foundation, explores Dwight D. Eisenhower’s life and leadership and offers a glimpse into Eisenhower National Historic Site, President Eisenhower and First Lady Mamie’s Gettysburg retreat.

Extend Your Visit to Eisenhower National Historic Site–The home and farm of President Dwight and First Lady Mamie Eisenhower allow visitors to explore the historic property, including the gardens, teahouse, skeet range, putting green, and Angus cattle barns. While the Eisenhower home is currently closed for tours, the grounds remain open daily from sunrise to sunset. Residents can learn more about visiting this historic site by speaking with a park ranger at the Museum & Visitor Center Information Desk or visiting Eisenhower National Historic Site online at nps.gov/eise.
