Adams County Head Start has openings for the new school year

Families seeking preschool opportunities for their young children still have time to enroll in Adams County Head Start before the new school year begins.

Adams County Head Start has openings for eligible children ages 3 to 5, with classes scheduled to begin Aug. 19. The program serves children who reside in Adams County and provides its services at no cost to qualifying families.

The comprehensive early childhood program offers more than preschool education. Services include high-quality classroom instruction, health and nutrition support, daily meals and snacks, dental screenings, family support services, mental health resources and specialized services for children with disabilities.

Families interested in enrolling are encouraged to submit an application as soon as possible while space remains available.

Head Start is a federally funded early childhood education program established in 1965 to help prepare children from income-eligible families for success in school. In addition to promoting school readiness through educational activities, the program connects families with health care, nutrition, social services and other community resources designed to support children’s overall development.

Nationally, Head Start serves hundreds of thousands of children each year through local agencies operating in communities across the United States.

Parents or guardians who believe their child may qualify are encouraged to apply online or contact Adams County Head Start for more information about eligibility requirements and the enrollment process before classes begin later this month.
