Adams County history groups receive $68,030 in state grants

Three Adams County organizations are among 182 museums and historical societies receiving nearly $4 million in state grants.

The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission awarded $30,000 to the Adams County Historical Society, $28,030 to the Gettysburg Foundation and $10,000 to the Pennsylvania Museum of Military Vehicles, which operates the WWII American Experience.

The grants provide unrestricted operating support. The commission says awards range from $4,000 to $47,000 and are calculated using a formula based on each organization’s annual operating budget.

The funding is part of the state’s 2026–27 Cultural and Historical Support Grants, which reach organizations in 60 counties as Pennsylvania prepares to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary. Source: Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission.
