Adams County Housing hosts Princeton Professor Matthew Desmond to Discuss Affordable Housing

HACCs Gettysburg Campus is joining with other community organizations including the Adams County Community Foundation, Adams County Housing Authority, Adams Economic Alliance, Gettysburg College’s Center for Public Service, Healthy Adams County, South Central Community Action Programs, and United Way of Adams County to discuss affordable housing in Adams County.

The lack of affordable housing affects everyone in Adams County.

  • It affects working families that struggle to pay rent each month.
  • It affects employers who are trying to recruit employees.
  • It affects senior citizens on fixed incomes who can no longer afford to maintain their homes.
  • It affects millennials who are still living at home because they cannot afford their own housing.
  • It affects individuals with disabilities who are striving for independence.

Please join a free discussion of New York Times best seller “Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City” by Princeton Sociology Professor Matthew Desmond on Wednesday January 9 from 3:30 to 4:30 PM in the Robert C. Hoffman Community Room at HACC’s Gettysburg Campus.

To register, please go to the January 2019 calendar at www.hacc.edu/Calendar.

Also, be sure to attend March 29th, 2019 at 11:00 AM when Professor Desmond will be on the HACC campus to lecture and discuss developing community solutions to housing challenges.
