On April 16, in recognition of its long-standing efforts to enhance digital access and internet services for area residents, the Adams County Library System received the President’s Community Service Award from the Broadband Communications Association of Pennsylvania (BCAP) at its annual Broadband Summit in Gettysburg.
“Public libraries play a significant role in providing digital access and encouraging adoption of internet use, which enhances the health and vitality of our communities,” said BCAP President Todd Eachus, who presented the award. “These critical anchor institutions not only bring the world to their patrons through a variety of services and programs, but they are unsung heroes in their ongoing commitment to lifelong learning. On behalf of BCAP, our Pennsylvania Cable and Telecommunications Foundation and our Boards of Directors, thank you to Adams County Library System and congratulations!”

“We are excited and deeply honored to have won the Broadband Communications Association of Pennsylvania’s President’s Community Service Award,” said Miranda Wisor, executive director of Adams County Library System who accepted the award. “Service to the community is central to all of the work that we do at Adams County Library System through building connections to opportunities, to resources, and to each other.”
Also on hand for the presentation was Adams County Commissioner Marty Karsteter Qually.
“I would like to thank the Broadband Communications Association of Pennsylvania for their support of the Adams County Library System and their efforts to expand broadband access in Adams County,” said Qually. “Government, private industry, and local partners are critical for future success. When we work together, all of our clients, customers, and constituents benefit.”
For 80 years, the citizens of Adams County have been able to rely upon its county-wide library system for materials and information services for formal and lifelong learning, enrichment, and pleasure. The Adams County Public Library Association was incorporated in 1945 with its first location in Gettysburg. Even though the ways in which society accesses and uses information has completely transformed since its beginnings, the Adams County Library System’s purpose remains the same: Connecting people to opportunities to enrich their lives. The system operates locations in six communities: Gettysburg, East Berlin, Carroll Valley, Biglerville, Littlestown and New Oxford. Learn more about them at www.AdamsLibary.org.
The Broadband Communications Association of Pennsylvania, a member-driven organization based in Harrisburg, actively promotes broadband cable and telecommunications industry issues in Pennsylvania. BCAP – the nation’s first state cable association – represents broadband cable operators, programmers and equipment suppliers that collectively provide service to nearly 3 million Pennsylvania households and businesses.
