The gift of Literacy may be the most significant gift someone receives in their life. Nearly one in five residents of Adams County is deficient in basic reading, math, and problem-solving skills, putting the region at a greater risk for poverty, domestic abuse and poor health. Improving literacy helps the economy, lowers healthcare costs, and reduces crime. For more information about literacy, the ACLC, or to schedule a speaker or presentation, contact us. The Adams County Literacy Council (ACLC) is a non-profit agency 501(c) (3) affiliated with the Lincoln Intermediate Unit, an educational service provider. ACLC provides free literacy services to help low-literate adults develop basic literacy skills, provides free educational programs about literacy issues, and provides at-cost adult literacy and ESL programs for businesses and organizations. ACLC is part of the 211 network of healthcare service providers. ACLC is funded by grants and community donations. ACLC does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, ancestry, age, sex or disability. Thank you for your support: ACLC’s Tax ID number is 23-1743636.
