Alex Cunningham – 2 Goals, Cole Schumacher – 2 Goals.
Jackson Sheads – 1 Goal & 1 Assist, Finn Keenan – 1 Assist
Carter Jenkins – 8 Saves, Turner Ramsburg – 3 Saves
The Gettysburg Warriors’ hopes for securing their first win on home turf were quickly washed away as Warwick Warriors poured in 18 goals in Thursday’s bout. Warwick’s Anthony Hummel scored five times and added an assist as he led his team to victory. Koen Glass and Landon Relek each recorded hat tricks for the visiting team from Lititz, PA. Warwick’s Kian Oehme was credited with four apples (assists) in the contest. In early action, Alex Cunningham forced a turnover and recorded the game’s first goal to give Gettysburg the lead. After Warwick scored four unanswered goals, Cole Schumacher took a centering pass from Jackson Sheads and capitalized for his first goal of the season. The two-goal deficit quickly became six as Warwick went on an offensive run. Jackson Sheads picked up his second point of the night as he lasered a shot past netminder Jackson Shelby. Sheads’ first goal of the season was assisted by Finn Keenan.
8 – 3 was as close as Gettysburg would get as Warwick extended their lead by scoring nine straight goals. Gettysburg didn’t give up as Alex Cunningham scored his second of the night (third of the season) and Cole Schumacher followed 1:35 later with his second goal of the contest. In net, Turner Ramsburg and Carter Jenkins saved 37.93% of the shots they faced.
In the junior varsity game, Gettysburg was on the wrong end of an 18 – 4 score. The hometown crowd erupted as Ty Garretson scored three times to secure his first career hat trick.
Gettysburg returns to action on Monday as they face the Lower Dauphin Falcons at Warrior Stadium. The varsity game starts at 4:30 with the junior varsity game to follow.
