The Warriors’ fans were treated to a spectacular first half of play Thursday night against a very talented Cumberland Valley squad. Down by only two goals, Gettysburg hoped to keep the momentum. Unfortunately, the Eagles were bad hosts as they rattled off 11 unanswered goals to end the game. The Warriors’ defense played inspired lacrosse as they forced several turnovers and put some heavy stick checks on the Eagles. Lucas Ramsburg, R J Monn, Josh Martin, Sam Dickerson, Gavin Hodges, and Christian DiCampli looked great in the first two quarters. They applied pressure when needed and limited quality shots. Gabe Wyant kept his squad in the game as he turned away 20 attempts to move to within 10 saves of 500 in his career. Offensively, Brennen Double made good on his pregame promise that he was going to make the scoresheet. Double got the Warriors on the board for the fourth time this season. Cole Schumacher moved into a tie for the most goals on the year with his 20th. Freshman Gavin Nevada scored his 10th of his career with a slippery move to find the promised land. For the first time in his career, Jackson Sheads grabbed a long pole and played inspired D as he forced a team-high three turnovers in the contest. Monday’s game against Chambersburg will be Senior Night at Warrior Stadium. The 6:30 faceoff will be the last home game of the year.
