Gettysburg, PA – Kierstyn Green, Chief Deputy Treasurer of Adams County, is pleased to announce the official launch of a new online hotel tax filing system through OpenGov’ s Tax and Revenue platform. This modern, self-service solution will streamline how local lodging establishments report and remit hotel taxes, bringing greater efficiency, accessibility, and accuracy to the process.
“This platform represents a major leap forward in our operations,” said Green. “The benefits to the Treasurer’s Office, lodging providers, and the County are astronomical.”
The new system offers a host of features, including:
Electronic filing and payment capabilities
Real-time access to filing and payment history
Document uploads for annual audits
Automated email reminders for filing deadlines
Multi-property account management under one login
Automatic calculation of penalties and interest on late filings
This marks the first major upgrade to the County’s hotel tax system since 2009. The previous system lacked electronic recordkeeping, online payment functionality, and the ability to track short-term rental payments from booking agencies. It also limited access to a single user at a time, creating operational inefficiencies.
Before launching the platform county-wide, the Treasurer’s Office conducted a pilot program with a select group of venue operators, including B&Bs, hotels, and short-term rental hosts. Their feedback was instrumental in fine-tuning the system. Participants praised the new platform as intuitive and time-saving, with one user stating, “This is so easy.” Another shared, “This saves me time and I don’t need to mail a check.”
