Aldi issues recall for two holiday bark products

Aldi has issued a recall for two seasonal Choceur Holiday Bark products after a packaging mix-up led to undeclared allergens, prompting officials to urge customers to discard the items or return them for a refund.

The recall involves five-ounce bags of Cookie Butter Holiday Bark and Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark, both produced by Silvestri Sweets Inc. of Geneva, Ill. The issue was traced to a temporary glitch in the production and packaging process that caused each variety to be placed in the wrong labeled bag. As a result, Cookie Butter Holiday Bark may contain undeclared pecans, and Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark may contain undeclared wheat.

Both allergens can cause reactions in individuals with sensitivities, making proper labeling essential. While no illnesses have been reported, the manufacturer and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration are working to ensure the products are removed from shelves ahead of the holiday season.

The recalled treats were sold at Aldi stores nationwide, including in Pennsylvania. Cookie Butter Holiday Bark can be identified by lot number 29225 and a best-by date of May 2026, printed on the back of the Choceur stand-up pouch. The Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark carries the same lot number with a best-by date of August 2026. Images of both products are available on the FDA website to help shoppers confirm whether they purchased the affected items.

Aldi stores in 28 states and the District of Columbia carried the products, including Alabama, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia, in addition to Pennsylvania.

Customers who have the recalled items should dispose of them or return them to any Aldi location for a refund. Those seeking additional information can contact Silvestri Sweets Inc. during weekday business hours.
