
GETTYSBURG, Pa. Junior Jessica Alessi (Nassau, N.Y./Ichabod Crane) captured her first career victory to lead the Gettysburg College women’s track and field team at its own invite on Saturday in perfect weather conditions.

Meet Highlights
- Alessi captured her first career victory in the hammer by tossing 124-11 to move her into fifth all-time in outdoor track and field history. She also placed third in the discus with a heave of 100-09.
- Schauder placed second in the pole vault to improve her mark for the third week in a row and by an inch from last week with 9-06.25. She is now tied for third on the outdoor all-time top-10 list.
- For the third consecutive week, freshman Holly Ferrara (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) improved her mark in the javelin. She claimed third with a throw of 122-01 to rank seventh all-time in outdoor history.
- In the discus, junior Katherine Mangione (Doylestown, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) finished runner-up with a mark of 105-11.
- Freshman Emily O’Hara (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown) set a new personal-record in the 400-meter dash, clocking 1:03.42 to take third.
- Junior Kathrin O’Brien (Lynchburg, Va./Virginia Episcopal School) and sophomore Amanda Addesso (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) both competed in the 10,000-meter run and placed second (41.52.22) and third (43.05.25), respectively.
- In the 100-meter hurdles, sophomore Julia Piness (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) collected a PR time of 17.35. Piness also competed in the 400-meter hurdles for the first time in her career and placed third (1:14.99).
- Junior Anna Pienkos (North Haven, Conn./Sacred Heart Academy) tallied second-place (4-09.75) and Schauder took third (4-09.75- PR) in the high jump.
- Senior Diana Bianco Riley (Seekonk, Mass./St. Mary Academy Bay View) took third in the hammer (107-04).
- Gettysburg placed third out of four teams with 135.5 points. Johns Hopkins University won with 189 points.
