Best-selling author Anne Lamott will visit Gettysburg on Thursday, Sept. 11, for an afternoon event centered on her latest book, Somehow. The program will run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the United Lutheran Seminary Chapel, 61 Seminary Ridge, and will also be available virtually for those unable to attend in person.
Lamott, widely known for her insightful and often humorous reflections on life, faith, and the human condition, draws in Somehow from her own experiences to explore the transformative power of love. She examines how love can take us by surprise, challenge us to face uncomfortable truths, and ultimately remind us of our shared humanity. While acknowledging that love is not always the easiest choice, Lamott argues it is always the right one — and central to who we are.
The event will offer attendees the chance to hear Lamott discuss the themes of Somehow in depth, weaving together personal anecdotes, practical wisdom, and her signature wit. Whether in person or online, participants can expect an afternoon of thought-provoking conversation and literary inspiration.
In-person seating is open to the public with advance registration, and the program will also be livestreamed for remote participants. Those registering for the virtual option will receive a link via email prior to the event. Registration is available at https://ulsforms.wufoo.com/forms/q14a7kh117vl7oy/.
