Greetings from GARA (The Gettysburg Rec Park)!
First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone who came out to our first Memorial Day Weekend music festival. This event exceeded our expectations, and we hope to make this an annual tradition. The six bands provided a lot of energy, and our various food and drink vendors had a very successful experience as well. A special thank you to the Gettysburg Connection and Chuck Stangor as our primary sponsor.
As Little League Baseball and club soccer wind down their fall seasons, the rec park is gearing up for our July 4th / Independence Day celebration scheduled for Friday, July 4th. Here are a few important things to consider if you plan to attend:

- We have ample parking on our North end field, the hospital employees’ parking area, and at PNC. The main parking areas closest to the Sterner building will be reserved for handicapped patrons. There will be a flat charge of $5 per car (CASH) to offset some of the expenses required to run the event.
- Gates will open at 4 p.m. with the band (Six Whiskey Revival) starting at approximately 5:30 p.m. or shortly after at the bandshell. This group also performed at our Memorial Day weekend event, and they were terrific.
- There will be twenty-one food and drink vendors available for your convenience. These vendors will mostly be located on the north end of our campus.
- Small games of chance will be available for everyone to participate. Please stop by the GARA tent for more information.
- Fireworks are scheduled to start at approximately 9:15-9:20 p.m.
We are happy to host this event and hope everyone has a great time. Please keep in mind that the rec park has a small part-time staff. We appreciate everyone’s patience and assistance with keeping the park clean and trash disposal. Thank you and best wishes!

Are they still having fireworks on the Gettysburg College Campus?
Not on July 4th to the best of my knowledge. Come out to the rec park for fireworks! Al
