Join acclaimed playwright, actress, and educator Anna Deavere Smith for a powerful conversation about her journey to uncover her Gettysburg roots, the inspiration behind her new play about her great-great-grandfather, Basil Biggs, and the importance of preserving untold stories. In this special program, Smith will share her reflections on heritage, identity, and the role of the arts in shaping our understanding of the past at the Annual Meeting of the Adams County Historical Society on October 4 at 6 p.m.
The evening will also highlight the campaign to create Gettysburg’s new Black History Museum at the historic Jack & Julia Hopkins House. This program is part of Gettysburg History’s Annual Meeting and will include dinner and drinks.
