Annual Kids Day at the Adams County Farmers Market Scheduled for Saturday

The Adams County Farmers Market and Healthy Adams County will be partnering to host their annual Kids Day event on Saturday August 2nd, 2025 from 8am-1pm at the Gettysburg Rec Park. This event is intended to help promote various community resources that benefit children while also encouraging kids to eat fresh, healthy produce and connect with local agriculture. Kids Day is free to attend and will take place alongside the regularly scheduled farmers market.

Nearly twenty community organizations will be featured at Kids Day this year, including NEXTStep Martial Arts, YWCA Hanover Safe Home, Adams County Library System, the Gettysburg Fire Department, and many more. Each organization will be there to provide information and activities for children. There will also be other kid-friendly activities, and children can even earn special tokens to spend on items being sold at the market. “This is one of my favorite events of the summer each year,” said Katherine Gaskin, Executive Director of Healthy Adams County. “I love to see kids enjoy the market and participate in all of the fun activities that local agencies provide.”

In addition to other games and activities, families can also enjoy a food demonstration facilitated by Nicholas Milone, Food Service Director for Gettysburg Area School District and a free yoga class for children starting at 9:30am by Rise Yoga. Yoga activities will be located by the Rec Park’s amphitheater. A team of volunteers from local business Plainville Farms will also be assisting this weekend with a popular Kids Day activity, the Two Bites Challenge, where kids can try uncommon local fruits and vegetables in order to win a prize.

“One of the most important goals for our Kids Day event is ensuring more children are connected with local agriculture and healthy eating,” said Reza Djalal, Market Manager for the Adams County Farmers Market. “Eating fresh fruits and vegetables is an important habit to cultivate at a young age.”

Families are encouraged to visit the Adams County Farmers Market any time between 8am and 1pm for Kids Day on August 2nd and visit the Healthy Adams County booth to receive their special Kids Day tokens, as well as other information and resources.
