The Arc of York and Adams Counties will host its first-ever Buddy Walk in Adams County on Saturday, October 4, 2025. The event will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Gettysburg Rec Park, bringing together teams, families, and community members for an afternoon of celebration and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Buddy Walk is designed as both a fundraiser and a community event. Teams of 8 to 15 participants raise money throughout the year, then gather at the walk to circle the park’s path together. The Arc hopes to raise more than \$25,000 through this year’s effort, with funds benefiting programs and services for people with disabilities in south central Pennsylvania.

Beyond the walk itself, the event promises a lively atmosphere with music and live entertainment. Attendees can enjoy food vendors, games, and activities for children, and community resource tables offering information about services and support opportunities. Prizes will be available for participants, adding a competitive and fun spirit to the day. Organizers have also arranged special appearances by popular mascots, including Bluey, Stitch, Hello Kitty, and SpongeBob, ensuring there will be entertainment for families with children.
The Buddy Walk is open to everyone, whether as part of an organized team or simply as a community member eager to participate. Organizers emphasize that the walk is about more than fundraising—it is also a celebration of inclusion and a chance for the community to stand together in support of people with disabilities. Businesses, church groups, schools, and families are all encouraged to take part, making it a team-building activity as much as a charitable event.
The Arc of York and Adams Counties has been working for decades to advocate for and provide services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This new Buddy Walk reflects its commitment to expanding outreach and engagement in the Adams County area.
