Arts camps for all ages at Adams County Arts Council

This summer, creativity takes center stage at the Adams County Arts Council with a vibrant lineup of art camps designed for students of all ages and interests. From painting under the sky to performing in glowing blacklight, there’s something for every young artist looking to explore their imagination and sharpen their skills.

Painting and Drawing Outdoors kicks off July 21–25, from 1–4 p.m. for ages 12 and up. Led by Kim Robinson, this camp encourages students to capture the world around them through paint, pencils, and more. Each day focuses on a different theme—architecture, figure studies, flowers, objects, and landscapes—through walking trips around the community.

Next, the stage will glow during Blacklight Glow Theater Camp, running July 28–August 1, 9–11:30 a.m. for ages 9–14. Instructor Soolah Hoops leads campers in creating a magical performance using UV-reactive materials, props, costumes, and music. The week culminates in a live performance for family and friends.

History and hands-on fun come alive in Become a Knight Bootcamp, also running July 28–August 1 from 9–11:30 a.m. for ages 7–11. Melissa Ring blends medieval history, knight-themed games at Gettysburg Community Park, and creative projects into an exciting and educational experience.

Young artists aged 7–10 can dive into anatomy and drawing techniques in Draw the Human – Figure Drawing, offered from July 28 to August 1, 2:30–4:30 p.m., with Candice Brown. Students will develop gesture skills and a deeper understanding of how to draw the human form.

Candice Brown returns August 4–8 from 2:30–4:30 p.m. for Peaceful Painting: Mandala Seascapes (ages 8–11), where students explore the beauty of impermanence through Buddhist mandalas and create serene, glowing seascapes.

Finally, Storytelling through the Arts runs August 4–8, 1–3:30 p.m. for ages 8–11. Lisa Cadigan leads a creative exploration of how to tell stories through words, visual art, music, and performance. Students will present their stories and creations at the end of the week.
