Arts Council Announces Juried Art Winners

The Adams County Arts Council’s 2024 Juried Art Exhibit recently concluded with an award ceremony celebrating the best in local artistry. The event, held at Gettysburg College’s campus, showcased a diverse range of creative talents across various mediums. Here are the notable winners:

Best in Show Award ($1,000) was presented to Andrea Finch for her quilted textile piece, “Echinacea Purpurea X: My Mother-in-law’s Tablecloth.”
Second Prize Award ($750) went to Joh Ricci for “Reclining Bloom,” a fiber artwork created using hand-knotted techniques.
Third Prize Award ($500) was awarded to Jaci Rice for her acrylic on canvas piece, “Magenta Evening Commute.” Unfortunately, Jaci was unable to attend the ceremony.
Fourth Prize Award ($250) was given to Anne Finucane for “Skaters,” a three-block linocut.
Fifth Prize Award ($200) went to Dora Townsend for her photograph titled “Ellsworth Kelly Sanibel Vision.”
Adams County Arts Council/JAE Committee Award ($200), chosen by the ACAC JAE Committee, was presented to Terri Yacovelli for her encaustic piece, “Golden Hour.”
Landscape Award ($500), selected by the Land Conservancy of Adams County, was awarded to Sarah Maclay for her acrylic painting, “Over Yonder.”
Purchase Award, chosen and purchased by Anthony Kylor and Amado Mesa of A&A Village Treasures, was given to George Radeschi for his woodwork, “B227.”
Blick Art Award ($250 in Blick Gift Certificates), chosen by the JAE Committee, was presented to Jim Whetstone for his wood piece, “Ribbon Box.”
People’s Choice Award, which includes an ACAC membership for one year and a certificate for a free class, was awarded to Harold Zabady for his oil painting, “Nightfall on Canal Street.”
Following the award presentation, attendees enjoyed the “Toast the Artists Celebration” in the Atrium on Gettysburg College’s campus, featuring a performance by the Buzz Jones Quartet.
