The Adams County Art Council’s 14th Annual Gingerbread Celebration, sponsored by Kennie’s Markets, moves online this year with several great ways to get into the holiday spirit!
Schools, nonprofits, businesses, and amateur bakers may enter a gingerbread house and compete to win top prizes of $500, with $200 to the runners-up. Businesses compete for the coveted Ginger Trophy, currently held by Brown’s Ranch, Gettysburg. Entry forms are available now at adamsarts.org. Deadline to enter is November 25.
The public is invited to view the online display of houses and select the winners by voting with dollars for its favorite gingerbread house. Cash votes help lucky bakers win prizes for their creative entries and help support the Arts Council’s programs which enrich students of all ages. Voting will begin online at www.adamsarts.org at 10 am on Friday, December 4, and end on Sunday, December 6, at 12 noon.
During those same hours, at the online auction site BiddingOwl.com/adamscountyartscouncil, you may bid on these festive gingerbread houses to brighten your home for the holidays. You may also opt to donate a house which volunteers will deliver to a school or facility where it will brighten the holidays for children or older folks. There is also a wonderful selection of gift baskets, including a Log Cabin quilt and fruit from Hollabaugh Bros, up for bid at BiddingOwl.com/adamscountyartscouncil. The gift basket auction is open now and runs until noon on December 6.
