The Adams County Arts Council, located at 125 S. Washington Street in Gettysburg, has released its fall and early winter schedule of creative and wellness classes, offering opportunities for residents to explore the arts, learn new skills, and connect with the community.
Among the first offerings is “The Art of Self-Defense” on Wednesday, October 22, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., followed by the “Power Up Fusion Conditioning Workshop” on Saturday, October 25, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Tap dance enthusiasts can join Intermediate and Advanced Tap Dancing classes beginning October 28 and continuing through December 9.
Cooking fans will find several hands-on classes this season, including “In the Kitchen with Lou: South Indian Vegetarian Cuisine” on October 29 and “Take and Bake Holiday Pies” on November 12. Additional culinary sessions include a Butternut Squash Risotto Feast on November 14 and Italian Christmas Cookies – Cuccidati on December 19.
The lineup also includes a variety of art and craft workshops, such as Wire Jewelry Techniques (November 4), Painting Techniques using Acrylics or Oils (November 5–26), and Make a Stained Glass Pumpkin (November 13). Basket weaving returns with local artisan Sam Richards, who will lead a Random Weave Egg Basket class on November 8 and a Natural Reed Basket workshop on December 13.
Writers can hone their craft in Sonnet Writing for Beginners on November 12 or Writing a Winter Poem on November 15. For those looking to relax, Soundbath with Soulshine by Shannon sessions are scheduled for November 8 and December 13.
Members can also take advantage of Open Studio Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m. for just $5 per person, offering space and time for independent creative projects.
The Arts Council encourages participants to register early, as class sizes are limited, and same-day sign-ups may require a phone call to check availability. Private group sessions can also be arranged by calling 717-334-5006.
