The community is invited to an exclusive free screening of For Such a Time as This at the historic Majestic Theatre in Gettysburg on Saturday, September 26, at 6:30 p.m.
Produced by Gettysburg College alumnus and area native Kevin Smith, the film has earned 17 international film festival awards and multiple “Best Inspirational Film” and “Best Feature Documentary” honors. The film beautifully captures the magic of the Kindness Worldwide movement and its inspiring message: one moment of kindness can change the world.
For Such a Time as This tells the powerful true story of how one woman’s simple, intentional act of kindness sparked a global movement and demonstrates how compassion can create a powerful ripple effect that can move individuals, families, and entire communities.
It offers a hopeful reminder that changing the world doesn’t always require a grand gesture. Sometimes, it begins with one person making a simple conscious choice to be kind.
Adams County plays a pivotal role in the Kindness Worldwide story and is featured in one of the film’s most pivotal scenes. The county was an early leader in embracing Kindness Week Worldwide, a unified celebration of humanity’s greatest asset that has since spread to multiple communities throughout the world. Kindness week encourages citizens to put “The 8 Characteristics of Kindness” (Gratitude, Patience, Forgiveness, Compassion, Respect, Joy, Generosity, and Service) into action as a means of strengthening communities and building bridges of human connection.

Healthy Adams County and the Center for Youth and Community Development are partnering to bring this film to Gettysburg. Center for Youth and Community Development are also creating a Youth Kindness Campaign that will be kicked off at the event.
