Back from the Dead offers candlelight cemetery walk

Experience Back from the Dead, a unique outdoor candlelight cemetery walk at the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg, Maryland. This immersive activity takes place throughout October and November. Led by a guide, visitors encounter characters who bring to life the Four Last Things: death, judgment, heaven, and hell. The approximately one-hour experience takes place in the dark and is recommended for ages 14 and older. Tickets are $12. The walk is wheelchair- and stroller-accessible, but no seating is available along the path.

An adapted indoor performance celebrating All Saints will take place Nov. 1, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. in the Basilica. This offers another opportunity to experience this powerful presentation. As one attendee said, “the program serves as a thought-provoking reminder to live our lives with eternity in mind.”
