Obituary
Barry W. Ortmyer
Barry graduated from Mechanicsburg High School in 1959. He worked for Weis Markets for 10 years then Giant Foods Corp out of Carlisle, PA. He retired in 2004 as a sales director at AWI in Robesonia. He then did some consulting work for Kennie’s Markets, performed landscaping, delivered mulch at Nolt’s and drove for Hanover Toyota. Barry was a member of York Springs Foursquare Gospel Church, the American Legion Post 26 in Dillsburg and Harbo Hunting Camp in Masten, PA. He volunteered as a public servant in local government, as a chaplain at Claremont Nursing Home in Carlisle and with Kairos Prison Ministries at Allenwood penitentiary. He was a team member for the Walk to Emmaus weekend retreats. He was a faithful bird feeder and a reluctant squirrel feeder. He was an avid hunter and enthusiastic fisherman. His front porch was his favorite resting spot. He loved his family and the Lord Yahweh, His God.
He served in the US Army during Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Deanna K. (Zimmerman) Ortmyer. He is also survived by one son, William Selosky of Saint Petersburg, FL; daughter, Sandy K. Schoenberger of Hagerstown, MD, daughter, Cheryl A. Kreps, and son-in-law Mark, of Hagerstown, MD and daughter, Melissa L. Raj and son-in-law Ajay, of Milton, MA; two grandchildren, Brandon Williams and Sarah Arnold; sister, Lori Ann MacGregor of Mechanicsburg and brother, John Stough of Mechanicsburg; his Aunt Jean Heberlig of Wellsville, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, George Ortmyer.
Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main St., Bendersville. A celebration of life service will be held at 4:30 PM on Saturday, August 1 at York Springs Foursquare Gospel Church, 400 Main St., York Springs with Pastor Tyler Weidler officiating.
