Gettysburg and Carlisle matched each other run-for-run for the first four innings Wednesday before the Thundering Herd scored in the fifth and then held the Warriors scoreless for the final three frames to claim a 4-3 win at Gettysburg.
Gettysburg’s Tegan Kuhns was the tough-luck loser, taking the L despite racking up 11 strikeouts over five innings while allowing five hits and not walking a batter. Zach Williams then contributed two scoreless innings, surrendering one hit and fanning two.
The first inning saw Carlisle take an early one-run lead. Gettysburg responded in the bottom of the inning with two runs of their own, thanks to hits by Wes Coolbaugh and Bryce Rudisill.
Braden Manning had two hits on the day for Gettysburg, while Carlisle second baseman Carson Swartz went a perfect three-for-three.
Carlisle sophomore Ian Pfahl got the mound win, going 5.2 and giving up six hits, walking three, and striking out four.
