de>LANCASTER, Pa. – It didn’t take long for freshmen Jordan Basso (Rye, N.Y./Rye) and Caroline Sullivan (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) to earn notice away from the Gettysburg College campus as the dynamic duo earned weekly awards from the Centennial Conference.

Basso was named the CC Offensive Player of the Week after totaling seven points in a 20-5 victory over Ursinus College last Saturday. She posted a pair of goals and five assists on the way to reaching the seven-point mark for the second consecutive outing. Basso also started the game inside the draw circle and racked up six draw controls in the first half. With the first-year taking the majority of draws, Gettysburg won 14-of-15 battles inside the circle in the first half against the Bears. Basso is tied for second on the team with 19 points and she leads the squad with 13 draw controls this spring.

Sullivan was named the CC Defensive Player of the Week. The first-year midfielder was seemingly everywhere on the turf last Saturday, totaling two goals, an assist, four ground balls, and a pair of caused turnovers. Sullivan did most of her damage in the first half, including scoring a goal with Gettysburg playing a woman down. Sullivan has tallied nine points this spring and is tied for the team lead in both ground balls (7) and caused turnovers (3).

Basso and Sullivan are the second Gettysburg duo to sweep CC Player of the Week awards. Senior attacker Bri Stokes (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) and sophomore goalie Shannon Twill (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills) earned the first awards of the season on March 23. Gettysburg has featured six CC Players of the Week so far this spring with senior Kerry McKeever (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) earning Offensive Player of the Week on March 30 and Twill adding her second defensive honor on April 6.

Gettysburg (4-0), ranked fifth in the latest national poll, hosts McDaniel College on Saturday, April 24, at 1 p.m. No fans will be allowed at athletic contests hosted by Centennial Conference institutions this spring. All home lacrosse games at Gettysburg will be streamed live and feature live in-game statistics.
