Be Willing to Spring Forward

Spring does not wait—it rises.

Across Adams County, life is awakening in vibrant color and quiet determination. Trees stretch skyward in full bloom, and fields are crowned with daffodils that seem to whisper of renewal, possibility, and courage. There is an undeniable energy in the air—a call not just to witness change, but to step into it.

Spring invites us to do something bold: to begin what we have never begun before.

Here in our own community, that call is being answered. At the Gettysburg Film Commission, we are stepping forward into a new season of opportunity with the launch of our very first Industry Mixer—an event designed to connect, inspire, and build something lasting right here in Adams County.

Behind the scenes of every film, documentary, or commercial lies an intricate web of people, places, and resources. When production companies consider a region, they are not simply looking at scenery—they are looking for a community ready to collaborate. They are asking: Can this town support the vision? Can it sustain the work?

A strong film commission answers that call through connection.

Our growing database is more than a list—it is a living network of possibility. It opens a window into the heart of Adams County, showcasing our workforce, our landscapes, and the countless hidden treasures that make this region extraordinary. From family farms and historic barns to antique cars, handcrafted props, and unique locations—our community holds stories waiting to be told.

But beyond the visuals, productions seek something even more valuable: partnership.

  • They look for local talent to hire.
  • They seek businesses willing to collaborate—hotels, caterers, builders, medical professionals, educators, artisans.
  • They need problem-solvers, visionaries, and neighbors who are ready to say, “Yes—we can help bring this to life.”

When that happens, something remarkable unfolds.

  • A town becomes a set.
  • A field becomes a scene.
  • A community becomes part of a story that reaches far beyond its borders.

And those who step forward into that moment often find that one opportunity leads to another. In the film industry, relationships are everything. A single project can open the door to a lifetime of creative work, as cast and crew return repeatedly to the people and places they trust.

That is why this moment matters.

This spring, we invite you to take your place in this growing movement. If you have not yet joined our database, now is the time. Step forward. Find where you belong—whether in front of the camera, behind the scenes, or through the resources only you can provide.

Soon, those connections will come to life at our first Industry Mixer, hosted at The Federal Pub. This gathering will be more than a networking event—it will be a spark. A place where ideas meet opportunity, where collaboration begins, and where the future of film in Adams County starts to take shape.

And this is only the beginning.

Twice each year—spring and fall—we will come together as a film family to strengthen these connections, to grow this vision, and to continue building a community that is not only film-ready, but film-strong.

Because the truth is this:

The magic of filmmaking does not begin in Hollywood. It begins in communities willing to believe in what is possible.

This spring, let us rise with the season. Let us step beyond hesitation and into opportunity. Let us become a county known not only for its history—but for the stories we are bold enough to create next.

Be willing to spring forward. And together, let’s make Adams County film strong—and film friendly.
