Beaver Stadium renovation rolls on

It may be spring in Happy Valley, but football remains part of the conversation as construction continues on the massive renovation of Beaver Stadium.

New progress is visible this month as the upper concourse on the stadium’s west side has begun to take shape, marking another milestone in the $700 million modernization project at one of college football’s most recognizable venues.

The overhaul began shortly after the conclusion of the 2024 football season, when demolition crews removed the longtime west-side press box on Jan. 4, 2025. Since then, the stadium has steadily transformed as crews work through a multi-year construction schedule.

The project is expected to be completed in time for the 2027 season, when fans are slated to experience a dramatically updated west side of the stadium.

Planned improvements include wider and more modern concourses designed to ease crowd flow, along with new premium seating areas, executive suites, loge boxes and club seating. The renovation is intended to preserve Beaver Stadium’s tradition while bringing updated amenities more in line with modern major-college venues.

Home to Penn State Nittany Lions football, Beaver Stadium is among the largest stadiums in the United States and has long been known for its size, atmosphere and whiteout crowds.

Though kickoff for the next football season is still months away, visible construction progress has kept interest high among fans eager to see how the stadium’s new look will develop.

The renovation represents one of the largest facility investments in Penn State athletics history and reflects the growing emphasis across college sports on upgraded fan experiences and premium revenue opportunities.
