Residents are being warned about a new scam involving the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Random individuals have reported receiving text messages from an entity claiming to be “Pennsylvania Turnpike Toll Services.” These texts are part of a scam designed to steal personal financial information under the guise of settling outstanding toll amounts.
The fraudulent messages emphasize urgent requests, warning recipients that failure to settle the overdue balance will result in additional charges. This scam mirrors similar fraudulent schemes reported by toll agencies across the country.

Officials urge anyone who receives unsolicited texts, emails, or messages claiming to be from the PA Turnpike or any other toll agency not to click on any links. E-ZPass account holders and Toll By Plate customers should verify their accounts using approved and secure methods, such as the official PA Turnpike E-ZPass website or the PA Toll Pay app.
If you receive a suspicious text message, you are encouraged to file a complaint with the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center. Stay vigilant and protect your personal information from scammers.
