Big fourth inning keys Warrior win over CD East in softball slugfest

Gettysburg exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning Tuesday afternoon, kept adding on, and defeated a stubborn Central Dauphin East softball team Tuesday afternoon by a final score of 12-7. 

The game started with home-standing Central Dauphin East taking an early lead, scoring one run in the first inning and another in the third. Then the Warriors struck, scoring seven to take control of the game. They continued to build their lead with one run in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth, eventually sealing the win with an additional run in the seventh.

 Abby Boblits led the winning charge, going three-for-four with a triple, five total bases, and one RBI. Ava Hochard also made a significant contribution, going two-for-five with a double, three total bases, and three RBIs.

Central Dauphin East put up a fight, with Morgan Warner standing out by going three-for-four with a double, a triple, six total bases, and one RBI. Gabriella Paul also had a big game, going three-for-four with two doubles, five total bases, and two RBIs.

On the pitching side, Samantha Carbaugh started for the Warriors and threw five innings, allowing eight hits, five runs (two earned), and striking out eight. Megan Musselman came in in relief, pitching two innings and allowing two hits, two runs (one earned), and striking out one. For Central Dauphin East, Braelyn Pitts pitched the entire game, allowing 13 hits, 12 runs (eight earned), and striking out six.
